Thierry Roland

Chair of the Supervisory Boards, NatWest Markets N.V. & RBS Holdings N.V.

Thierry Roland has been the Chair of the Supervisory Board of NatWest Markets NV since April 2026. He was appointed to the Board of NatWest Markets plc in April 2025, where he serves as a Non-Executive Director and a member of the Board Risk Committee and the Audit Committee.

Thierry is a seasoned banking professional, having had a 35-year career for HSBC across Europe, the US and Asia. During his executive career, Thierry held a number of roles including Group Treasurer, CEO of Global Banking & Markets in both Europe and the Americas and CEO of HSBC Securities (USA) Inc, the US broker dealer.

Thierry started his career in Tokyo as a derivatives trader with Crédit Commercial de France (CCF, now HSBC Continental Europe). He became Markets Treasurer for France in 2000, for the Americas in 2006, and then globally from 2008. He was promoted to Group General Manager in 2012.

Thierry represented HSBC-CCF at the ECB Money Market Contact Group from 2000 to 2006. He was the first Chairman of the Euribor-ACI Short-Term Paper Task Force (ACI-STEP) in 2001–2002.

He holds an MSc in Engineering from École Centrale Paris and an MBA in Finance from Paris-Dauphine University.
