CEO, EMMI
Jean-Louis Schirmann has served as CEO of the The European Money Markets Institute (EMMI) since 2018. Under his leadership, EMMI successfully reformed the governance and methodology of Euribor, securing its designation as a critical benchmark under the EU Benchmark Regulation.
He also spearheaded the development of Efterm, a fallback rate for Euribor, and contributes actively to the Euro Risk-Free Rates Working Group. Jean-Louis Schirmann also chairs the STEP Market Committee and regularly participates in the European Money Markets Expert Committee (EMMEC).
Before joining EMMI, Jean-Louis spent over 20 years at the European Central Bank, mainly within Market Operations, where he led the Money Market and Liquidity Division. His earlier career included roles as Fixed Income Trader at Crédit Industriel d’Alsace et de Lorraine, Deputy Head of the Money Market Desk at the Frankfurt branch of Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, and a one-year assignment at the International Monetary Fund.
Let’s shape a resilient and harmonised European CP landscape.
